Early on a cold morning, I went to the Bedford Styuvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn to photograph the opening of Housing Works‘s Jefferson Avenue Residence.
According to Housing Works, the residence “…will provide 12 studio units of supportive housing … for formerly homeless persons with HIV/AIDS. The facility contains community spaces and staff offices on the first floor, a rear yard for resident usage, and a laundry room on the rooftop. The facility is our “greenest” yet as it includes a green roof, no-VOC paint, FSC and formaldehyde-free wood, floor tiles made from recycled materials, Energy-Star appliances, and LED lighting.”
I arrived early to photograph the brand new studio apartments and the roof deck and green roof. Next there was a short ceremony in front of the building followed by a reception indoors.
