I spent a long afternoon at Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights making portraits of their staff, architectural photos, and covering activities in their homeless shelter and Christian Spiritual Development classes. Portraits, events, and architecture are my favorite types of photography, and it was fun and challenging to do all three on one shoot. In this post I present the staff portraits. We shot them in the expansive arcade between the sanctuary and the church house. To keep it simple, I used only two lights: a key light with a large bounce umbrella from the front, and a hair light from behind. Now the church has consistent photos of their staff to use on their website and in publications.
