After visiting the “Our Global Kitchen” exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, I had a few minutes to walk around the museum before closing. I ended up in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals. My Canon G10 was in my pocket, so I had some fun making photos of the dioramas. I found detail photos to be more interesting than wide-angle shots of an entire diorama. I was limited by the depth of field of a point-and-shoot camera, but this experience inspired me to return someday with my full-frame camera and the right lenses to get more creative.
