I’m a big fan of National Public Radio. So I was thrilled when the Metropolitan New York Library Council asked me to photograph a presentation and book signing with NPR Librarian Kee Malesky. For years I’ve heard her name in the closing credits of my favorite radio shows. Before talking about her new book, Learn Something New Every Day, she explained what it is like to work at NPR, and it was pretty fascinating. The librarians check facts and provide research with high levels of journalistic integrity at lightning speed.
When I’m working visually, my ears usually shut off, but this time I tried to pay close attention. Luckily, the presentation was long enough that after I got many shots of Ms. Malesky speaking, more of the same was no use, so I was able to put my camera down and listen.
