A while ago, I photographed vignettes for the website I designed for The Open House, a home furnishings store in Rye, New York. It was meant to be a static website where a slideshow presents the vignettes as examples of the store’s style and the products it carries. To the owner’s surprise, customers come in asking about items they see in the slideshow, and it became apparent that the website needs to be kept up to date with current products.
We shot on a regular business day, which was more difficult than the first shoot where we shot on a day when the store was closed. My client helped to style the larger vignettes when she had time, but when she was helping customers, I worked on my own, walking around the store to photograph the individual items.
