I gave up hardcore cycling to pursue photography more seriously. I was happily reunited with my cycling club when they asked me to photograph them as they participated in the LGBT Pride March on June 24th.
A small but enthusiastic contingent showed up from Fast and Fabulous, New York’s oldest LGBT cycling club. The parade moved slowly enough for me to walk, and the cyclists rode loops around the other organizations as we worked our way down Fifth Avenue and into Greenwich Village. The march certainly wasn’t a fast event, but the club did look fabulous in their matching jerseys and custom-made rainbow helmet toppers!
Of course, in an event as colorful as the LGBT Pride March, I couldn’t point my camera at just the cyclists. Stay tuned for upcoming posts on the experience of waiting for the march to start and on other outtakes from the day.
