Ordination of Al Bunis at Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims

I had the great pleasure of photographing the ordination of Al Bunis at Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights. The June 12 service was followed by a champagne reception.

The original plan was for me to remain inconspicuous and shoot from the balcony for the entire service. But at the last minute, Senior Minister David Fisher asked that I come down to the front of the sanctuary for an intimate view of the ceremony.

Senior Minister Rev. Dr. David Fisher welcomes the congregation to the ordination service.

The congregation sings a hymn.

To me, “the laying on of hands” was the most beautiful and meaningful part of the ordination.

Al Bunis breaks bread with the congregation.

Al offers communion to his congregation for the first time as a minister.

Rev. Dr. David Fisher congratulates Al at the end of the service.

The congregation attended a champagne reception following the service.

Everyone helped make the reception a great party.

Al raises his glass during a toast to him.

Young and old enjoyed the reception.

Al and his proud parents.
