Photos With My Restored Bardwell & McAlister Keg-Lite

In a previous post, I told how I restored a vintage Bardwell & McAlister Keg-Lite. Here I share two photos that a friend kindly modeled for so I could try it out. Apparently my restoration was successful, as I didn’t burn down the studio!

The photo above mixes the hot light with Canon Speedlites, the Speedlights lighting the model overall and the hot light positioned above as a hair light. To get the color of the tungsten hot light to match the daylight strobes, I gelled the strobes with a full cut of CTO gell and set my camera’s white balance to tungsten. The photo below uses the hot light alone for a vintage Hollywood movie feeling. I may try converting the image to black-and-white to heighten the effect.
