I spent Monday photographing the 12th Annual Asbury Park Firefighters Local 384 Golf Tournament at Cruz Farms Golf Club in Farmingdale, New Jersey. It is one of the largest single-day golf tournaments held in the state, with over 175 players representing professional firefighters throughout New Jersey. The funds raised went to benefit the union’s Charities Organization which contributes to many worthwhile causes throughout the year. Recipients of this fund include Asbury Park Pop Warner, Biddy Basketball, Little League, Monmouth County Boys Club, Monmouth County Food Bank, Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Breast Cancer Foundation, “Adopt-A-Family at Christmas,” “Widows’ and Children’s Fund of the New York City Fire Department, National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, Sloan Kettering, and St. Barnabas Burn Center.
The day was sunny and hot, thought not too bad in the shade. I spent some time photographing the golfers, but as part of my project with the Asbury Park firefighters, I concentrated on them as they produced the event without a hitch. When it was all done they posed for the group shot above. The slide show below shows some of my favorite shots from more than 1,000 I took that day during the golfing and the amazing barbecue and activities afterward.
