In late October I photographed the New York University School of Medicine Dean’s Fun Run. A group of students ran with the dean of the medical school from South Street Seaport along the East River to the school on East 31st Street. I raced ahead of the runners on my bicycle, stopping a few times to photograph them and then raceing ahead again.
I photographed this event before, both in the spring and earlier in the fall. It was scheduled a week earlier but was postponed due to rain. On the original date the temperature was a comfortable 50 degrees, but this morning it was 38 degrees. In planning the date for this run, no one realized that the 7:00 a.m. start time was 20 minutes before sunrise. I shot the first few images here on a very high ISO and still had to lighten them considerably in Lightroom. I wasn’t optimistic, but I was surprised at how well they came out.
